Lebanon, Tenn. - Missouri Baptist men's wrestling was at the top of its game on the mats at Cumberland University on Saturday as five Spartans made it to the finals of their weight classes.

The Spartans put on quite the show in Tennessee. Uxsunn Ramirez blew through the competition at 157lbs to take home the title. Ramirez, currently ranked 12th in the NAIA at that weight, quickly turned heads by beating the number two-ranked Charles Pingleton (Lindsey Wilson University) in the first round. From there, Ramirez continued to collect victories, sometimes by the narrowest of margins, all the way to the championship.

Weston Keleher, who has been surging lately, also won in the 184lb class. Detorious Prayther, currently ranked 11th at 125 pounds, wrestled extremely well, but dropped a tight match in the finals, 7-5. Prayther, along with A.J. Carter-Johnson (174lbs) and Joe Kent (Heavyweight) all placed second in their respective classes. Esmond Ford also got into the mix, placing fifth at the 149 pound class.

The Spartans are currently ranked 14th in the NAIA, but will look to move up the rankings after the success they enjoyed at Cumberland. The team will come home for a dual against long-time rival McKendree University at the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex on Wednesday. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
