Conner Stevenson won at both No. 3 doubles and singles on Saturday
Men's Tennis - Sat, Apr. 20, 2013

ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist men's tennis continued its late-season charge on Saturday afternoon. The team defeated Principia College 6-3 to earn its third win in a row.

The Spartans took an early 3-0 lead thanks to a clean sweep in doubles play. The No. 1 team of Mike Rubinelli and Drew Morris won 8-5 over Jason Wissman and Joey Sander. In like manner, Tanner Morris and Ian Furey also won at No. 2 8-5 and made it a 2-0 lead.

Conner and Cole Stevenson teamed-up on the court and picked-up a quick 8-2 victory to continue the success into singles play.

The Spartans needed just two singles wins to take the match. They team picked-up three instead. Mike Rubinelli won at No. 2 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 in what was perhaps the most exciting match of the day. Conner Stevenson and Ian Furey also recorded straight set wins of their own.

The Spartans are getting hot at the right time. After seeing an early stretch of extremely talented teams, MBU has been able to string some wins together heading into the conference tournament on April 26-27 at Evangel in Springfield, Mo.
