Senior Meagan Hudson races throuh Forest Park last fall.
Women's Cross Country - Wed, Aug 5, 2009
Fall sport athletes reported for the first week of practice this Monday. The women's cross country team is already logging its share of miles to prepare for the 2009 season; a season which has third year Head Coach Amanda Schick excited.

"I think our coaching staff has done a good job in recruiting some young ladies who are really going to help us build upon the talent we have coming back," said Coach Schick. "I expect that we are going to accomplish some great things this year."

Leading the pack of returning talent for the Lady Spartans is senior Meagan Hudson. Hudson, a two-time Cross Country All-American, will look to repeat the honor and lead her team to some success along the way. Helping Hudson will be fellow returner Katie Cline. Cline was Academic All-Conference last season, and Coach Schick has high hopes for the junior this season.

"We have a young team this year," said Coach Schick. "It's reassuring to have these two women among my other returnees."
A combination of work ethic and a desire to excel from her athletes leads Coach Schick to believe it will be "a fun season." Schick further explained "We have a competitive schedule and some great freshman runners coming in who are going to add some depth to our squad."
The Lady Spartans talent and depth will be put to the test for the first time at Washington University's Big River Early Bird Invitational at Forest Park on September 5th.
