The MBU men's soccer team went 1-1 for the week to move to 4-5 on the season. The Spartans picked up a 4-0 non-conference win over Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Wednesday that moved them back up to the .500 mark, before losing to McKendree on Saturday in their AMC opener.
Freshman Ivan Milicevic (St. Louis/Mehlville H.S.) led MBU's scoring with two goals. Juniors Nyron Orr (Trinidad & Tobago) and Ryan Harris (Alton, Ill./Lewis & Clark CC) each scored a goal. Junior goalkeeper Ger Coppinger (Ireland) and freshman Nemanja Pandzic shared time at the net for the shutout. Coppinger recorded three saves and Pandzic had four.
The Spartans scoring was stifled on Saturday, as they lost their AMC opener to McKendree 5-0 in Lebanon, Ill. MBU will play just one game this week, facing local AMC opponent Harris-Stowe State University on Wednesday. They will have a break from play this coming weekend.
