The MBU men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Chicago to compete in the Loyola University Sean Earl Classic on Saturday.
The MBU men's team finished 27th of 39 teams, with their best team effort of the season. Juniors Kyle Meyer (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette H.S.) and Jason Kohlbaker (Dexter, Mo./Highland CC) improved their personal best times significantly and finished well in the field of over 400 runners.
 
"The men continue to work together and may take a shot at the AMC title next month," said MBU Head Men's Cross Country Coach Gordon Reiter. 
 
For the women's team, senior Meagan Hudson (Festus, Mo./Crystal City H.S.) continued to dominate among the NAIA elite, earning a 7th place medal (18:08, 5 km) in a race with NCAA Division I, Division II, and Division III opponents. Sophomore Lauren Scott (Arnold, Mo./Fox H.S.) and freshman Kenyatta Harris (St. Louis/Gateway H.S.) also competed for the Lady Spartans, improving upon their personal bests.
 
Both the men's and women's cross country teams will return to action Saturday, October 9th at the Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville Border Wars.
