ST. LOUIS- [FINAL RESULTS] Missouri Baptist Men's Bowling concluded regular season play in Indianapolis, Ind. this past weekend and finished 68th with a team total of 7622.
The Spartans sat in 75th after Saturday's events but jumped a few spots with an improved performance in the Baker format.
As he has for much of the season, junior Garrett Schauf once again led the way for MBU. Schauf's best games were a 192 in the opener and a team-high 212 in the sixth and final game. That was enough for a 195th place finish in a field of more than 400 competitors.
Sophomore Nick Wagner finished 204th for MBU, closing with a 210 in game six. Austin Vancil (226th) and Mack Ivory (261st) rounded out the top 300 for Missouri Baptist.
Unfortunately, the men will not be ranked high enough to qualify for ITC Sectionals in March. Despite missing out this season, Head Coach Steve Solovic still believes the program has a bright future.
"Several of our players showed glimpses of greatness this year and I am encouraged that we are only losing two seniors. We have a good group of underclassmen ready to take over, as well as some high-powered freshman coming in," Solovic said. "I'm looking forward to some hard work at the end of the semester, pushing the reset button, and getting a fresh start in the fall."
