ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] (RV) Missouri Baptist Women's Lacrosse (6-4) got back to their winning ways on Tuesday night with an 11-8 victory over Lindenwood-Belleville (3-10). Madison O'Brien notched her first career hat-trick as the Spartans overcame an early deficit.
The Lady Lynx struck first at 27:43 and held a 3-1 advantage at the midway point. They maintained that lead until just under five minutes remained in the first half. At 4:03, Rachel Bianchi found the back of the net and the floodgates opened from there for the Spartans. Madison O'Brien scored twice in the final two minutes to give the navy and white a 4-3 halftime lead.
Lindenwood-Belleville tied the match on two separate occasions in the second half before McKenna Fisher's second of the game and 29th of the year gave MBU the lead for good. Goals from Mary Krause and Melina Custer pushed the lead to three. After the Lady Lynx cut the lead back to one, Krause and Stacy Rohan scored one minute apart to put it out of reach.
O'Brien scored her 10th of the season with 26 seconds left to complete the hat trick and salt it away for Missouri Baptist.
Kaitlin Mills was solid in goal for the Spartans. The freshman made 11 saves to earn her fourth win of the season. She also led MBU in groundballs with four.
Missouri Baptist will finish their regular season schedule against Westminster on Friday night. First faceoff in Fulton, Mo. is scheduled for 5pm.
