ST.LOUIS— Missouri Baptist Men's Cross-Country will be looking to bounce back in 2017. The Spartans return four runners from last year's squad and will look to improve on an eighth place finish in 2016.

With just two seniors on the roster, the veteran leadership of Jacob Pinkley and Logan Jaggie will be especially important. Other returners include Brian Jordan, Zach Ogg, and Daniel Evans.

Pinkley, a senior from Ste. Genevieve, Mo., put up a personal record in the 8K with a time 27:34. Jaggie also returns for a fourth year as a Spartan, having put up a personal record in the 8K with a time of 28:37.

"Even though this year's team is young, we can still be stronger than the past few years," Assistant Coach Katie Goodwin noted. "The goal is a top four finish in conference and we believe that's something that is definitely achievable."

With the new season brings new faces to the Spartans. There are four newcomers to watch this year for MBU. Hunter Boker, a freshman from Fort Zumwalt North High School, brings a personal record in the 5K with a time 16:58. Dakota Stumpf, (Roxana, Ill.), Trey Peugeot (Batesville, Ind.), and Joshua Person (Florissant, Mo) will also be key additions for the 2017 squad as will Josh Hunt (House Springs, Mo.)

The Spartans were projected to finish eighth in the American Midwest Conference this year. They start the season on Sat., September 2nd with a trip to Elsah, Illinois for the Principia College meet.
