Ramon Contreras notched his first goal of the season on Saturday
Men's Soccer - Sat, Sep. 9, 2017

ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Men's Soccer fell 3-2 in overtime against Madonna University (Mich.) on Saturday afternoon.

A first half goal-fest gave way to a more defensively sound contest in the second half. The Crusaders struck first in the 12th minute but MBU answered right back two minutes later. Justin Schuttenberg delivered a perfect cross into the box and Ramon Contreras got a head on it to tie the match.

Madonna regained the lead in the 35th minute but again, the Spartans responded quickly. This time it was Eduardo Maia who took aim from nearly 20 yards out and found the top corner. Tommy Struckman provided the assist.

Both teams buckled down defensively in the second half and the match proceeded to a golden goal overtime. Just one minute into the extra period, Madonna freshman Justin Stack notched the game winner to end it 3-2.

The Spartans fall to 2-4 on the season while Madonna remains unbeaten at 4-0. MBU will now open their conference schedule on Wednesday away to Hannibal-LaGrange.
