ST. LOUIS— [BOX SCORE] [BOX SCORE] Women's Volleyball had yet another successful weekend on the road. Play started at 9 am against St. Ambrose University (Iowa). The squad closed out the weekend taking on tournament host, Lindenwood University- Belleville at 5 pm.

The first match started off a bit slowly for the Spartans, as St. Ambrose immediately took the lead. However, Missouri Baptist quickly found their way back, and it was an even match from there. The teams were tied 12 different times in the first match, making it hard to tell who would come out on top.

A kill from senior Tina Medanovic gave the Spartans a three point lead, forcing the Fighting Bees to call a time out. Unlucky for St. Ambrose, MBU was prepared to seal the deal. Marion Couraud and Maggie Sorensen dished out the final two kills of the match, allowing the Spartan win (25-20).

Medanovic, Couraud, and Cate Cigarini led the Spartans in kills with 10 each. Sorensen and Kelly Wilson each contributed two kills, and Freshman Brilee Henson made it on the board with four of her own.

The second set was nearly identical to the first, except this time the Spartans kept the lead throughout. Missouri Baptist beat out St. Ambrose 25-20 once again.

Missouri Baptist used their 2-0 lead to build up momentum, as they hit the court for the third set. The Spartans took an early lead with five kills and two aces in the first 10 points of the game. After gaining a comfortable lead on St. Ambrose, the rest of the match was smooth sailing. MBU finished the third set 25-13, taking the match.

The Spartans found themselves in a similar situation in set one against Lindenwood- Belleville, facing another game of back and forth. It was a battle for the lead, but a Cigarini kill finally secured the set win for Missouri Baptist, 25-20. The Spartans rolled through the following sets, taking the match in three (25-16, 25,-14).

After this weekend, Women's Volleyball improved to 12-2 overall. They will travel to Canton, Mo. on Tuesday to take on Culver-Stockton at 7 pm.
