ST. LOUIS- [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to Freed-Hardeman on Saturday afternoon. The Lions scored the winner with just over two minutes to go in regulation.

Both teams struggled to maintain possession in the first half and the result was a limited number of scoring opportunities. The Lady Lions generated the best chance of the half when Nina Carolissen's free kick ricocheted off the crossbar in the 25th minute.

After managing just three shots on goal in the opening 45, the Spartans ramped up the pressure in the second half. They launched seven shots on target but could not solve FHU keeper Erin Douglas.

The Spartans were left to pay for their missed opportunities when Freed-Hardeman finally broke the deadlock in the 87th minute. Sam Clymer caught Alex Lair off her line and lofted a shot that seemed to handcuff the MBU keeper. It ricocheted off the crossbar and then off Lair's back and into the net.

MBU had one last opportunity but Haylee Eastridge was once again denied by Erin Douglas and the match ended 1-0.

The final SOG count ended even at seven apiece. Alex Lair recorded six saves in the match to become the new MBU career saves leader. She now has 247, passing Samantha Schulze's 246 from 2010-2013.

The Spartans fall to 5-5-1 overall and 3-3 in the AMC. They'll take on Lyon College next Saturday, October 7. The Senior Day kickoff will be at 1 pm.
