ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] The No. 10 Spartans made their way to Columbia, Mo. to take on the No. 13 Cougars for the American Midwest Conference Game of the Week. After remaining undefeated in the AMC for seven matches, Missouri Baptist finally faced defeat, as Columbia College came out on top in four sets.

The match started as expected, with the score remaining neck and neck. After four early ties, Columbia began to break away with the lead and managed to stay there. They took the first set, 25-17.

The second set started just as the first, but this time it was in the Spartan's favor. A service ace from Kamden Maas put MBU in the lead, but Columbia was not going down without a fight. After another tight set, Missouri Baptist managed to push through, claiming the second as theirs, 25-18.

The final two sets continued the trend of back and forth rallies, and it seemed to be anybody's game. The Spartans battled it out, but the Cougars had just a bit more gas. They took the following two sets (25-16, 25-22), and the match victory.

Marion Couraud led the Spartans in kills for the evening with a total of 13. Cate Cigarini followed close behind with eight kills. They each recorded two blocks, as well.

Rachel Poole added 27 more assists to her AMC leading total, making it 840, and putting her at No. 9 in the division.

The Spartans are back in action Friday, October 6. They will meet No. 2 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in Ina, Illinois to face off at 6 pm.
