ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] The Spartans were back in action in Indiana as they took on the Pomeroys of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. MBU bounced back from two losses last week, starting this one with a sweep

The match may have begun with a Pomeroys ace, but Missouri Baptist immediately regained composure, as they quickly found the lead. The squad rolled through the first two sets (25-7, 25-14).

SMWC gained more momentum heading into the third set, as they gave MBU a run for their money. The Pomeroys seemed to be gaining on the Spartans until Maggie Sorensen fired back with a kill, allowing her team to take back possession, and take the match win in three sets.

It was a team effort, as nearly every Spartan made their way onto the court. The Spartans clocked in 43 total kills with Cate Cigarini and Marion Couraud leading the way. They each finished the match with seven kills. Tina Medanovic, Kelly Wilson, and Maggie Sorensen were close behind with six each.

Rachel Poole assisted in 21 kills, while Ana Oliveira finished the evening with 12.

The Spartans will head to Columbia, Mo. on Friday, October 13 to compete in the Columbia College Fall Classic. The first match kicks off at 1 pm against No. 6 Westmont College (Calif.).
