Women's Basketball - Tue, Feb 9, 2010
Missouri Baptist's Jessica Moore has been selected as the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the NAIA announced Tuesday. Moore was selected based on her performances from Feb. 1 - 7. The winner is chosen out of a pool of conference player of the week selections among 12 conferences and independents.
Moore, a forward from Belleville, Ill., posted 25 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks to lead Missouri Baptist to a 75-74 double-overtime win over American Midwest Conference foe Park (Mo.) on Feb. 4. She followed that up with a season high 32 points and eight rebounds against AMC rival Stephens (Mo.) on Feb. 6. Moore leads the AMC in scoring, averaging 18.5 points per game while shooting 55.6 percent from the field.

The 6-1 junior's 18.5 points per game rank 10th nationally, while her field goal percentage of 55.6 percent ranks 14th nationally. Moore has scored 20 or more points in her last five games and 12 total times this season. She has also posted six double-doubles this season.

Prior to joining the Lady Spartans this season, Moore played for two seasons at Lewis & Clark Community College in Belleville, Illinois. She graduated from Belleville West High School.

Moore's NAIA Player of the Week nod is the first for a MBU women's basketball player since LaTrice McMichel earned the honor during the 2005-2006 campain. Missouri Baptist is currently 14-8 overall, 6-4 in the American Midwest Conference.
