The Missouri Baptist University men's soccer team has announced the signing of super striker Ren Herzog of Southwest Illinois College (SWIC).

Herzog, a native of Freeburg, Illinois, graduated from Freeburg High School in 2007 There, he finished his senior season with 21 goals and 22 assists for a total of 64 points.

Herzog comes to MBU after completing two successful years at SWIC, a NJCAA Division I program in Belleville, Illinois. At SWIC, he led the Blue Storm this past season by finishing in the top 50 in points in the NJCAA Division I. Herzog competed in all 22 games, scoring 14 goals, and notching 7 assists, to give him a total of 35 points on the season. In addition to his success on the field, he has maintained a 4.0 Grade Point Average.

"We are very excited to bring Ren in for the 2010 season," said MBU Head Coach Deno Merrick. "He is a great player and student. Ren is expected to make an immediate impact on our attack next season. He was very successful at the junior college level, and we know he will bring that same success here to MBU."
