The MBU women's volleyball program has announced the signing of Casey Chernin for the 2010-2011 season.
Chernin, a 2008 graduate of Lafayette High School in Chesterfield, Missouri, played her freshman and sophomore seasons at NCAA Division I Saint Louis University.
As an outside hitter, Chernin was a member of the 2008 Lafayette team that finished in third place at the MSHSAA State Championships. She earned All-State, All-Region, All-District, and All-Conference honors. In addition, she was named Team Most Valuable Player.
While at Lafayette, she played club volleyball for Team Saint Louis, under the direction of MBU Assistant Coach Chris Nichols. Chernin will join former Team Saint Louis teammate Megan Moore at MBU.
"Casey will instantly be one of the top offensive threats in the American Midwest Conference, and possibly the NAIA," said MBU Head Coach John Yehling. "Adding Casey to our offense should allow us to make a strong run at getting to the NAIA National Tournament."
Chernin, a sophomore Elementary Education major, has already begun taking classes at Missouri Baptist University this Spring. She will join her MBU teammates on the court for the 2010 season this Fall.
