The Missouri Baptist University baseball team has extended its win streak to thirteen games with a four game road sweep of American Midwest Conference rival McKendree University April 2 and 3.
With the wins, the Spartans sit atop the American Midwest Conference with an 8-0 conference mark. They are 21-9 overall. The four-game series sweep of defending AMC Champion McKendree is the first ever for the Spartans under Head Coach Eddie Uschold.
MBU dominated the Bearcat pitching staff in the four contests, scoring 44 runs and driving in 13 home runs over the two days. Junior utility player Armando Gutierrez led the Spartan hitting barrage. He hit .643 with 9 hits in 14 at-bats, one home run, two doubles, and two stolen bases.
MBU will return home for a non-conference double header against Bethel College (Tenn.) on Tuesday, April 6. Game one is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
