Women's Lacrosse - Tue, Apr 6, 2010
For the second time this year, the MBU women's lacrosse team took to the soccer field to lend a hand in teaching soccer skills to youth with special needs.

Twelve members of the MBU squad volunteered with SPENSA (Special Needs Soccer Association) at Soccer Park in Fenton on Saturday, March 26. They helped lead a group of around 75 youth in soccer drills and games.

"SPENSA is always a great experience for my athletes," said MBU Head Coach Katie Rau. "We have been able to go and volunteer multiple times. I feel like they gain more and more from the experience as they get comfortable working with the kids."

SPENSA is a not-for-profit, St. Louis based soccer program for young people with disabilities. The program is open, free of charge, to any boy or girl ages 15-21 with a disability. You can find out more about SPENSA by visiting their website at www.spensa.org.
