The MBU men's and women's track & field teams competed at the American Midwest Conference Outdoor Championships last weekend. Junior Tiffany Jackson and sophomore DeWain Meeks highlighted the MBU performances, earned Most Valuable Runner honors.
Jackson and Meeks both repeat the honor, having also earned Most Valuable Runner honors at the Indoor Championships this winter. Jackson won both the 100m and 200m dashes, running NAIA National qualifying times in each. Meeks won the 100m and 200m dash, took fourth in the 400m run, and anchored the winning 4x400m relay. His 200m time of 21.68 set a new meet record.
The Spartan men's team finished in second place (151 points), behind champion McKendree University (224 points). Taking first and setting new meet records for the Spartans were sophomore Darby Bohlen (discus-39m), sophomore Junior Hines (400h-54.9), and the all sophomore 4x100 relay team of DeWain Meeks, DeWight Meeks, Ivan Milicevic, and Tim Glockner.
Five men have qualified in seven events for the 2010 NAIA Outdoor National Championships May 26-28 in Marion, Indiana: DeWain Meeks (100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m, 4x400m), DeWight Meeks (200m, 4x100m), Junior Hines (400h, 4x400m), Ivan Milicevic (400h, 4x100m, 4x400m), and Tim Glockner (4x100m, 4x400m).
