The Spartan baseball team is set to play in the 2010 NAIA National Championship Opening Round this week. MBU has received the number one seed in group nine. They will open play on Tuesday, May 18 at Smith-Wills Stadium in on the campus of Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi.

The tournament will open at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, when the number four seed Texas Wesleyan University faces the number five seed Kansas Wesleyan University in the opening round of play. The number two seed, Belhaven, will take on the number three seed Brewton-Park University at 3:00 p.m. Missouri Baptist will play the winner of game one at 6:30 p.m. The complete bracket can be found here. The Spartans are ranked twelfth in the NAIA and carry 42-12 record into their first ever appearance in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round. They won the American Midwest Conference Regular Season and Tournament Titles.

The winners of each of the Opening Round Tournaments will advance to the ten team 2010 Avista-NAIA World Series May 28-June 4 at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho.
