The USA Volleyball Gateway Region has recognized Missouri Baptist University Men's and Women's Volleyball Coach John Yehling with the 2010 Dennis Lafata Meritorious Service Award.

Each year, the Gateway Region selects five individuals to be recognized by the USA Volleyball National Office. Coach Yehling was chosen based on his significant contribution to the sport of volleyball at the regional level.

Coch Yehling has been at the head of the MBU men's program since 2003, since then, he has compiled a career record of 158-80. The Spartans finished second in the nation in 2010. In 2005, he took the lead of the women's program as well, and has since achieved a record of 149-62, including a NAIA National Tournament Final Four appearance.
