The NAIA recently released its Scholar-Team award recipients for the 2009-2010 academic year. Missouri Baptist University features seven teams on that list, the most in school history.

"Having seven teams achieve NAIA Scholar Team status speaks volumes of our commitment as an athletic department to academic excellence," said MBU Director of Athletics Dr. Thomas Smith. "Each year, our student-athletes are consistently performing stronger in the classroom. We hope to have even more Scholar Teams in the future."

In order to be a Scholar Team, a NAIA program must achieve at least a 3.0 Grade Point Average on a 4.0 scale. The team GPA must include all varsity athletes certified as eligible.
