
Coach Iris Dixon is in her first season as head coach of Spartans' women's basketball and her 12th year as part of the Missouri Baptist University basketball family.
Prior to being named head coach, Dixon spent the previous eight seasons at MBU as the head assistant coach. Dixon's responsibilities included working with the guards, assisting with the coordination of recruiting efforts, overseeing athlete academic progress, travel preparation, budgeting, community service, off-season and summer skill development and conditioning among other duties.
In addition to her work
with the Spartans, coach Dixon has been instrumental in helping to develop two-NAIA
All-Americans, several Academic All-Conference recipients, Academic All-Americans
and several NAIA Scholar Athletes.
Coach Dixon began her career at MBU as a graduate assistant coach while pursuing her M.S.Ed Degree in Kinesiology. After completing her master's degree, Dixon was promoted to Assistant Coach in 2002. Through her continued dedication and commitment to the athletic department Dixon was promoted to Director of Student Athlete Services in
2008. In this newly created position, coach Dixon developed compliance and eligibility policies and procedures for the University. In addition to her coaching duties, in 2010, coach Dixon was named Assistant Director of Athletics over Compliance. She also serves as a member of the Health & Sport Sciences Division faculty.
Prior to MBU, Coach Dixon served in the United States Armed Forces in the Army where she was a member of the 434th Field Artillary Brigade, in the 95th AG Battalion stationed in Fort Sill, Okla.
Iris received her Bachelor's degree in Business Adminsitration from Northwestern State University where she was also a member of the women's basketball team. Dixon, a shooting guard,
helped to guide the Lady Demons to a national ranking and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Coach Dixon is a native of Natchitoches, La. and a graduate of Natchitoches Central High School.
Coach Imig is in her first season at Missouri Baptist University as the Assistant Coach of women's basketball. For the previous two seasons, Imig served as a graduate assistant for the program.
A native of Joshua, Texas, Imig was a multi-sport athlete in high school, earning All-Conference first team honors in cross-country, Track and Basketball.
After high school, Imig played collegiate ball at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. There, she averaged 15.5 points over the course of her career. She turned in a season best performance at Quincy University when she recorded 26 points.
Imig has a bachelor's degree in Speech Communication from SIUE and recently earned her master's degree in Sport Management at Missouri Baptist.
